The latest post at The Duchy of Tradgardland, regarding the recently rereleased Airfix Ancient Britons, reminded me that I had a picture of some of my own ABs on my phone. Like many others I'm sure, I have great memories of playing with these toys attacking the Roman Wall Fort on the dining room carpet, and later being used with Featherstone's Ancients Rules.

These sure bring back memories. The Celts and Romans were my first ancients figures back in the days I was buying them for well under a dollar a box. Mine have long since departed this earth.
ReplyDeleteMy Grandfather gave me the Roman Fort and a box of Romans - they had to fight the Robin Hood figures until some Ancient Britons turned up at Christmas
DeleteLikewise …my first ancients, too 🙃. A wonderful set, and the chariots were excellent little models.
ReplyDeleteI like the Chariots too even though the wheels aren't right!
DeleteOverall a nice set of ancients - even if I still imagine the slinger figure is very much posed like a skateboarder (admittedly one waving a sock for some reason) 😉
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Geoff
Ha ha I hadn't thought of a skateboarder - just needs a hoodie
DeleteBrings back memories, Airfix figures were my introduction to the hobby.
ReplyDeleteGreat memories and they're still the backbone of my 1/72nd armies
