Very short post to showcase a little Fantasy Fortified Town scenery object. It's somewhere between 3D and 2D (2.5D??) as there's room for figures inside the walls, but the flat town means it doesn't take up too much room. The flat town idea was based on a far better executed version by Peter that features in this post. Mine's a 3 inch square mdf base from Warbases with the "structures" made from 3mm foam board. As a proof of concept, I think it works ok. Hopefully it will be used in planned Hyboria games. That's it; enjoy the sunshine (or whatever the weather's doing where you are.

Very Hyborian - looks fantastic.
ReplyDelete...I am totally stealing this method ;)
Cheers - gets the idea across anyway!
DeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
ReplyDeleteIt looks very effective. I’m a great believer in the combination of 3D and 2D … and 2.5D buildings.
All the best,
Bob
Thanks Bob - I'm going to try more 2D scenery as it's so much easier to store
DeleteThat worked out really well and definitely gives the impression of a fortified town behind the walls.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter - your Blog is a great source of inspiration
DeleteNice work - most effective, MJT. ππΌππΌππΌ
ReplyDeleteCheers Martin - preparations continue for another little Hyborian sojourn
DeleteSuperb design. Reckon I might be forced to revisit an idea I had a long time ago about 'building Ionople'... I checked back your link. How I missed Jonathan Freitag's Vauban fortified town, I can't think!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ion
Thanks Ion - I think you should definitely build Ionople.
DeleteThe design you missed was Peter's own btw
Very nice, looking forward to seeing it attacked.
ReplyDeleteCheers Mark - hopefully it will see action this month π€
DeleteIt looks great for showing a town on the battlefield and that it can hold figures too is a bonus. Well done.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your Hyborian endeavor.
Thanks - hopefully you won't have to wait TOO long!
DeleteSmart, I like the idea, especially being able to fit a figure inside it!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks Iain. I wanted it to be able to play an active as well as decorative roll in a game
ReplyDeleteIt works indeed. It looks good and is a unique piece of terrain. I like the simplicity and the effect of this neat little project.
ReplyDeleteThanks Roger
DeleteGreat design, not only looks good but practical, being able to place garrison figures inside.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark - foam board is easy to work with so I'll probably continue experimenting with the same theme
