Other People's Swords, Sorcery & Squares (PW Fantasy)

Martin Smith has very kindly sent me some pictures of his recent game using my Swords, Sorcery & Squares rules (the PW variant that appears in Bob Cordery's Portable Wargame Compendium)! Martin also provided me with loads of feedback which has provided a lot of food for thought.
The game report appears on Facebook so any reader that has access to FB could track it down on either the "15mm War Gaming and Painting" account or the Portable Wargaming account.
Looks like it was a fantastic game Martin.

  1. It was fun, indeed. ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ. The rules gave a very balanced game, and the random events and magic aspects contributed positively without becoming overbearing. Many thanks for getting them ‘out there’.

    1. Thanks Martin. My additions to Bob's PW Ancients have hopefully added to and not distorted the game!

Yep, I think the flexibility of PW is one of its strong points. Also Bob is very supportive and positive if someone wants to try tweaking the rules (unlike some other rules authors who can be very protective of their creation). And they are so all encompassing. Just a mod here and there and Bob’s yer uncle (/auntie).
It’s been the best wargaming thing to happen to me for a very long time.
MJT’s fantasy version certainly did it for me, too…. ✔️

    2. Maybe the Swords, Sorcery and Squares could get a run out in your ongoing OHW scenarios series? I think OHW and PW are a fine combination…and your reports to date have been very absorbing. (Table at home now set up for a C18th PW… got the bug ๐Ÿ™‚).
