Turn 5 saw Redina's Division number 2 pushing South towards the Bluvian Capital. Their Advance Guard was to clash with a Bluvian force who had been sent forward to a strategic position. Game 4 in the Campaign was based on the C S Grant Table Top Teaser no. 10, published in Military Modelling in September 1979; Rear-Guard.

What happens when both have reached exhaustion points? Does the attacker (Red) fall back?
ReplyDeleteIn the Portable Wargame rules, when both sides reach Exhaustion Point the game ends. For the purposes of the Campaign, if the attacker fails to achieve his objective he falls back. In Turn 5 the Red Division has not progressed forward, but Blue has not moved forward either.

DeleteI shouldn't read these when I am tired. I spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to recognize the scenario by the map, then trying to relate the pictures to the map...until...it finally dawned on that I was, of course, looking at the campaign map. Duhhhh

DeleteIt is an interesting scenario and would play better with two I think. I rolled d6 for the position of the hidden forces on the reverse side of the hill, but that part of the game would certainly benefit from another person.
A tough battle and an opportunity for the Reds lost, will they mobilise the rest of the army?.

DeleteThe PW works perfectly for my campaigns as the games are short; I've even managed to fit a few games in over a free weekend and this moves the thing along. In the past I've got bogged down with Campaigns as the games were long and often didn't get completed in one sitting.
