Bridges

Today saw time for a very quick game, so a PW 3x3 was set up. This time it was a Mini Trimsos that was fought. Each side needs to control both the Old and New Bridges for a complete victory.

As with the original Battle of Trimsos, this game was set in Hyboria and saw Corinthia fighting Brythunia.

The two armies arrived...

Fighting around the bridges plus archery fire across the river

Corinthian Infantry stoically hold the New Bridge

The Brythunians driving back the Corinthians on both flanks!

The Corinthians have struck back late in the day

and by nightfall controlled both the bridges for an emphatic victory!

  1. Very nice MJT ⚔️⚔️
I do enjoy a good Hyborian scrap - I’m a long-time fan of Robert E Howard’s fiction. My Hyborian armies are old school 25mm’s - primarily a mix of Garrison, Lamming and Minifigs. Aquilonia, Turan and Nemedia, with a generic barbarian mix for the Cimmerians.
    Cheers,
    Geoff

    1. Thanks Geoff. I'd be very interested to see pics of your 25mm forces. In my teens I started collecting the Minifigs Sword and Sorcery figures, a lot of which are of course available again at ridiculously high prices c/o Caliver Books!

  2. Reminds everyone that you can have lots of fun gaming with a small playing area and number of figures.

    1. Indeed you can - DBA & HoTT showed that you could have small units and still play tactical, fun games and the PW 3x3 variant demonstrates that a small playing area is viable too!
A great advantage for the busy and impecunious!

  4. Looks like a fun game, MJT 👍🏼…and a sudden resurgence of Corinthia at the end or a surprise finish. Love those 10mm 🙂👍🏼.

    1. Thanks Martin - Corinthia's glorious fight back was a bit surprising but that's the dice at work.

  5. Maudlin Jack Tar,

    What a great little battle!

This is one of the scenarios that I am ‘revisiting’ in the next PWC … but on an 8 x 8 square and 8 x 9 hex grid.

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. Great stuff, I love the simplicity of it. Wargaming minimalism?

    1. Thanks David. Originally it was a sort of forced minimalism but I've grown to like it! I have enough imagination to fill in the gaps anyway.
